What is the Mobility Greensboro 2040 Plan?
The Mobility Greensboro 2040 Plan establishes long-term strategies and programs designed to make the Greensboro area’s bus system more efficient and increase the number of bus riders. To achieve this, GTA conducted an in-depth study that assessed the changing transit needs of the Piedmont Triad’s residents, workers, students, and visitors. GTA is currently planning to make the first recommended modifications from the study. A public hearing will be held April 23rd, 2019 at 5:30pm in the GTA Administrative building’s Board Room at 223 W Meadowview Rd. The proposed changes will go into effect on July 1, 2019.”
Review of Existing Conditions
Phase I began with a review of the current transit operations and the community needs for transit service. The Service Evaluation and Market Analysis was completed in July 2017. Materials from the review of existing conditions are available.
Transit Service Alternatives
The team developed service scenarios aimed at addressing existing and projected community transit needs and redesigning the GTA network accordingly. The team worked to develop a draft network scenario for public comment and feedback, which helped revise the draft plan.
Stakeholder Input Sessions
As part of the existing conditions review, our team obtained input from the public and key stakeholders such as GTA board members, GTA operators, and other committees from the MPO. The team also collected initial input from faculty and students at local colleges and universities. During the development of transit service alternatives, the team continued to engage the public and stakeholders for feedback on network options. GTA has continued to engage the public on the First Steps starting July 1, 2019.
Finalized Service Plan
The team will continue to work collaboratively with stakeholders and the public to refine the outcomes of the final plan, as we implement the goals in phases as funding becomes available. Costs, capital needs, phasing, and an overall financial analysis were completed for the service plan during Phase II.
