What is the Mobility Greensboro 2040 Plan?
The Mobility Greensboro 2040 Plan will establish long-term strategies and programs designed to make the Greensboro area’s bus system more efficient and increase the number of bus riders. To achieve this, GTA is conducting an in-depth study that assesses the changing transit needs of the Piedmont Triad’s residents, workers, students, and visitors. The study will unfold over the next 18 months in two phases, and will include:
Review of Existing Conditions
Phase I began with a review of the current transit operations and the community needs for transit service. The Service Evaluation and Market Analysis was completed in July 2017. Materials from the review of existing conditions are available.
Develop Transit Service Alternatives
The team has begun developing service scenarios aimed at addressing existing and projected community transit needs and redesigning the GTA network accordingly. The team is working to develop a draft network scenario for public comment and feedback, which will help revise the draft plan.
Stakeholder Input Sessions
As part of the existing conditions review, our team obtained input from the public and key stakeholders such as GTA board members, GTA operators, and other committees from the MPO. The team also collected initial input from faculty and students at local colleges and universities. During the development of transit service alternatives, the team will continue to engage the public and stakeholders for feedback on network options.
Finalize Service Plan
The team will work collaboratively with stakeholders and the public to refine the alternatives and define a final service plan for GTA. Costs, capital needs, phasing, and an overall financial analysis will be completed for the service plan during Phase II.
